SEEDS, a nonprofit rooted in Des Moines, Iowa, is dedicated to cultivating the creative, cultural, and entrepreneurial potential of Black and Brown youth. Through culturally affirming programming in dance, visual arts, storytelling, and entrepreneurship, SEEDS nurtures youth to thrive as confident, expressive changemakers.
To empower youth with tools, training, and mentorship that support self-expression, economic opportunity, and cultural pride—creating a vibrant, inclusive creative economy.

We build participants’ capacity with tools, training, and mentorship to support their self-expression, create economic opportunity, and deepen cultural pride—creating a vibrant, inclusive creative economy.
What We Do
SEEDS engages in culturally relevant education, community collaboration, and mentorship in all programs, which are offered at no cost to all participants. All programs are funded through grants and individual donations.
